THE STATUTE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONTEST


The sixteenth edition of "Eduard Pamfil" International Festival of Young Guitar Players Players will take place at the "Tinerimea Romana" National Art Centre in Bucharest.

The official opening will occur on Friday, 16 December 2011, at 10:00 AM, and the contest will begin at 11:00 AM at "Tinerimea Romana" National Art Centre on 4, Schitu Magureanu Street right across Cismigiu Park, next to Bulandra Theatre, Izvor Hall.


The guitar contests will comprise 4 age categories:

  • A) Participants that were born after January 1st, 2001
  • B) Participants that were born after January 1st, 1998
  • C) Participants that were born after January 1st, 1995
  • C) Participants that were born after January 1st, 1986

* For Category A the contest repertoire will be at the contestant’s free choice and will last for a maximum of 8 minutes.

* For category B the contest repertoire will last for a maximum of 12 minutes and will comprise works from different music periods.

* For category C the contest repertoire will last for a maximum of 15 minutes and will comprise works from different music periods.

* For category D the contest repertoire will last for a maximum of 25 minutes and will comprise works from different music periods.

For Category D, the Prizes will be as follows:

1st Prize a guitar built by Master "Andrei Oprisan"
2nd Prize a Scholarship at the International Guitar Festival Sinaia Romania 2012 (accommodation + full board at a 4* hotel, master class fee, contest fee and entrance to recitals).
3rd Prize a scholarship at the Guitar Festival in Targu Mures 2012 (accommodation + full board and festival fees)

For Categories A, B and C, Prizes will be awarded in money, musical instruments and special trophies.
Contestants in Category C will be able to participate in Category D as well. In this case they will pay the participation fee for both categories.


The contest participation fee is RON 60.00 (€15) for categories A, B and C, and RON 80.00 (€20.00) for Category D.
The contest participation fee will be paid on Friday, December 16th, 2011 after the official opening.


For accommodation purposes, we recommend the Hello Hotel on 143, Calea Grivitei Street, Bucharest 1 (across the North Railway Station (Gara de Nord), http://www.hellohotels.ro/, which proves very good accommodation conditions at reasonable prices.


The order of participants in the contest will be established by the organizers, and the decisions of the jury will be final.
The programme of the festival and order of participants in the contest will be posted at "Tinerimea Romana" National Art Centre.
